Mail for Help
We organize letter-writing evenings around the world and send letters and postcards to political prisoners in Russia — so that no one behind bars for their beliefs is forgotten.
Who we are
We're a volunteer-run organization that coordinates letter-writing events for political prisoners in Russia. We help people organize evenings where anyone can sit down, write a letter or a postcard, and we take care of getting it into Russian prisons.
Most of our events happen outside Russia — though the majority of the people who come to write are Russian speakers living abroad. Everyone is welcome, wherever you're based and whatever language you write in.
Recent campaigns
With FREE120, we ran letter-writing evenings in 55 cities, sending letters to 298 seriously ill political prisoners and raising funds for targeted medical and postal support.
Organizers worldwide held 50 letter-writing evenings — led by Russia (16), the US (8) and Cyprus (4) — and helped send 353 more letters, including from Tbilisi, Seoul and Yerevan.
Artists from around the world drew spring-themed illustrations. We turned them into a sticker sheet, added a few warm words, and mailed it to 341 political prisoners.
Chip in
Running letter-writing evenings isn't free — social media tools, stamps, envelopes and modest salaries for our small team all add up. Every contribution keeps letters moving. Pick whichever method works for you:
